We call this van the Wabi.

It's got the biggest kitchen we've ever built, a closet that turns into a shower with infinite hot water, a wave of walnut over the bed that exists purely for the vibe, a rooftop deck, a skylight, and the Solar Sail Slim you can walk on. To understand why any of this was built in this way, you have to understand the intention behind the build.

This van is influenced by the Japanese style of design, Wabi-sabi, the idea that nothing is perfect and nothing lasts, and that's exactly where the beauty is. The patina on this copper and the texture in these walls are supposed to age. They're supposed to feel lived-in, embracing the organic essence of life.

When I build a van, I spend a copious amount of time learning the nooks and crannies of my client’s soul, which I then try to express through the design of a van. Everything you see, from the materials and the smells to the lighting, was chosen to make this feel like a place, not a product.
